Built for the athletes in between
IronHybrid exists for people who refuse to pick a lane — who want to pull heavy on Monday and run a fast 5k on Thursday. Hyrox athletes. CrossFitters. Hybrid trainers. People whose training does not fit neatly into either the strength or the endurance box.
What we actually do
We write training programmes. The gear came second, and it exists because the programmes kept running into the same wall.
Every plan we send out is written for one person. You answer a questionnaire — your level, your sport, the equipment you actually have, how many days a week you can realistically train, what is currently injured or annoying — and your answers are read individually before a single session is written. It is not a calculator. It is not a template with your name on the front page. If your gym has no sled, your plan does not contain sled work.
That costs CHF 24.99, once. For context, a month of the app-based programmes in this space runs around CHF 48, recurring, and their "personalised" usually means a calculator sitting on top of a three-phase template that every subscriber gets.
How we programme
We work to a fixed set of principles rather than to whatever feels right that week. You should know the reasoning before you pay for it, so here it is.
- Distance before load on carries. If race day is an unbroken 200m carry, three sets of 20m with rest does not prepare your grip for it. We build unbroken distance first, then add weight.
- Some sets stay bare-handed. Straps and grips let you overload the muscles past what your hands can hold, which is useful on strength days and counterproductive if you use them on everything. If every set is assisted, your grip never gets the signal to adapt.
- Two grip exposures a week, not five. Hands and forearms recover slower than most people assume, and grip work stacks on top of training you are already doing. Two focused exposures move the needle; five just make you sore.
- One variable at a time. Load, distance, duration or sets — we progress one per week so you can actually see what is working.
- Fatigue is programmed on purpose. Hyrox happens with your heart rate already high, so some grip work is placed after a run or an interval rather than fresh.
- Nothing is auto-generated. No two plans come out identical, because no two questionnaires do.
If a plan we send you does not explain why something is in there, ask. We would rather answer than have you follow it blind.
Why grip
We started with grip because it is the most common point of failure in hybrid training and the least trained. Four of the eight Hyrox stations — sled pull, farmer's carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls — depend on your hands holding up under fatigue. In deadlifts and high-volume pulling, the hands quit before the muscles do. Fixing that is the cheapest performance upgrade most athletes can make, and almost nobody programmes for it on purpose.
The gear follows from that: liquid chalk that survives a full session, straps and power grips for when the bar gets heavy, wrist wraps for overhead work, and speed ropes for the conditioning half of the equation. It supports the training. It is not the point.
How we operate — honestly
We are based in Bülach, Switzerland. We are not a warehouse. Our gear is made and dispatched by production partners abroad, which is why a parcel takes two to five weeks rather than two days, and why our prices are what they are. We would rather be upfront about that trade-off on this page than have you discover it after you order. If you need something next week, we are not the right shop for that order.
Plans are different — nothing ships. Your programme is written and emailed within 48 hours of your questionnaire coming back to us.
When we are not the right choice
We would rather lose the sale than take the wrong one.
- You want weekly check-ins and ongoing coaching. We write a block and hand it over. If you need someone adjusting your week every Sunday, go and find a proper 1-to-1 coach — it is a different product and it costs more for good reason.
- You are already following a programme that is working. Then keep following it. Buying a second plan on top of a good one is how people end up doing neither properly.
- You want an app, videos and a community. We send a PDF. That is genuinely all it is.
- Your problem is sweaty hands, not weak grip. Then you need a CHF 19.95 bottle of chalk, not a CHF 24.99 programme. Buy the chalk.
Talk to us
There is a real person on the other end of the email, and questions about programming get answered by whoever writes the programming — not by a support script. If you are unsure which product fits your training, ask before you buy. We would rather talk you out of the wrong purchase than process a return.
If something we sell does not hold up, we want to hear about it.
